The new Three Litre House near the harbour city of ancient Rome, Ostia Antica, respects the Italian construction tradition but, with its three litres of oil or three cubic metres of gas per square metre per year, it consumes at least 80% less than the Italian average for heating. This has been achieved via comprehensive insulation with Styrodur® C for the perimeter and Neopor® for the external thermal insulation composite system and for the roof and impact sound insulation.
The plaster containing Micronal® PCM regulates the internal temperature, which remains comfortable even on the hottest days - with no active cooling system.
The result: a marketable, low energy solution for Italy offering 365 days of comfort per year!
