BASF receives award for family-friendly policy in Germany |

Hertie Foundation Awards Basic Certificate for Family-Friendly Personnel Policy in Germany |
BASF Aktiengesellschaft in Ludwigshafen has been awarded the 'Beruf & Familie' ('career & family') basic audit certificate by the non-profit Hertie Foundation. A total of 116 companies, institutions and universities in Germany received the coveted award for family-friendly policies.
"We are very pleased about the award. As a company that operates according to socially responsible principles, helping employees to combine their career with bringing up a family is very important to us. This is why we operate a family-friendly personnel policy. Examples include our flexible working hours plus our new daycare center 'LuKids' and summer vacation programs 'Kids on Tour' and 'Teens on Tour'. We plan to continue this policy and so the audit is a big boost for us", said BASF's head of human resources Hans-Carsten Hansen. BASF's existing program was not the sole criterion for the award of the basic certificate - the company's newly intensified and continuously updated process will also be evaluated in the years to come.

Making it easier for employees to combine a career with family life
BASF has set itself several goals here. It intends to review its existing work-life balance program and to constructively develop it. New projects include building a second daycare center for children between six months and three years of age as well as increasing the ratio of women in management positions.
BASF will document its goal attainment progress in yearly reports to the Hertie Foundation. After successful re-auditing in three years, the company will then receive the final European work and family audit certificate.
